HOW DOES IT WORK?

So you want to ride a dirt bike on the trails in Ontario but don't know where to start? Follow these steps below for all the info you will need.......

STEP 1

Click ‘Buy A Trail Pass’ from the side menu. You can buy a membership valid from Jan - Dec or you can buy a day/weekend pass.

7

STEP 2

Choose between ‘Full Season Pass’ or ‘Day Pass’.

7

STEP 3

You will be asked to ‘Sign Up’ or ‘Log In’. Choose ‘Sign Up’. You can now sign up with your google account, microsoft account or enter your email address manually.

**For 2025 - everyone will need to ‘Sign Up’ and then from 2026 onwards, we will be able to allow you to renew instead of having to re-enter all information every year.

7

STEP 4

Provide contact details. Confirm/Enter your full name, email address, cell phone number and address. Proceed to the next step.

7

STEP 5

Add family members, if applicable. You will need to enter the requested information for anyone you want to also purchase trail passes for.

7

STEP 6

Choose your local club - you will need to pick at least one club. A portion of the trail pass fee goes directly to the club so we recommend either picking your local club or the club whose trails you ride the most.

**You can pick more than one club however this will come with an additional cost.

7

STEP 7

Review your order, check all the information is correct, enter your card details and complete your purchase. We now offer the option to pay with credit card, paypal and apple pay.

7

STEP 8

You will now be taken to a thank you message with a link to your trail pass. We recommend printing or taking a screenshot of this now. You can see your invoice, live tracking for your club/OFTR sticker and a link to your self service portal.

**Your OFTR membership card will now be digital BUT you will still be sent an OFTR and club sticker in the mail. We recommend you put these stickers on the forks of your bike or if you have multiple bikes, to put them on your helmet.

7

STEP 9

You will receive 2 emails during the course of your sign up journey. Email one will be a ‘welcome’ email - providing you with some links to useful resources such as FAQ’s and videos explaining how to use our mapping app. Email Two will be a link to your trail pass and invoice. The link to your trail pass, will take you back to the page from Step 8, showing you live tracking of stickers and a link to QR code.

**PRINT OR TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF YOUR TRAIL PASS. This is to prevent any issues with your device not having signal in the trails if you are asked to provide proof of membership.

7

STEP 10

Make sure when you hit the trails, you have your stickers and proof of trail pass. Download the RideOFTR app for the latest updates including trail closures, difficulty levels and more.

What Is The OFTR?

The Ontario Federation of Trail riders provides resources and advocacy for Ontarians who love trail riding and exploring the great outdoors. In partnership with our member clubs we source, create and maintain a trail network for the responsible use by off road motorcyclists. We provide a strong, united voice to represent off road riders on a larger scale, ensuring that these trails continue to be accessible.

Advocacy

The OFTR provides off-road motorcycle riders a unified voice in the province of Ontario. We focus on educating the government, riders, landowners and the non-riding public on the sport of off-road motorcycle riding. The OFTR works in collaboration with stakeholders, local, regional, provincial and federal governments to preserve existing riding areas and gain access to new areas. We recently held our first Queen’s Park Day which involved a unique opportunity to speak to leaders in a one to one setting about how to make Onatrio a better place for riders.

History

The OFTR was established in 1992 by four avid off-road riders that had the foresight to recognize the need for a common voice among riders. This was a totally volunteer organization that became the voice of off-road riders in the province. The OFTR remained a volunteer organization until 2004. At that time government and industry funding allowed OFTR to hire its first employee. With a full time employee the organization gained tremendous credibility with government bodies and was able to establish land use agreements throughout the province. The OFTR Trail Ride Series was established and the OFTR continues to ensure off-road riders have access to some of the best riding areas in the world.
